A simple electrochemical cell can be constructed from common laboratory equipment. To demonstrate, a silver ion concentration cell will be constructed.
Two small beakers will contain the half-cells. Strips of silver metal will form electrodes. Filter paper saturated with a potassium nitrate solution will serve as the salt bridge. And, a multimeter will measure the potential across the two half-cells.
